Meet the A team: Matthew Von Bertouch - Project Director Health Infrastructure, Eric Tieu - Project Administrator, Sally Rouland - Change Manager, Jennifer Assaf - Director and Andrew Paris - Senior Project Director Health Infrastructure.

A new project team, including local staff with more than 40 years’ combined healthcare experience, has been created to deliver the New Bankstown Hospital.

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital & Community Health Services Redevelopment Project Director Jennifer Assaf said it’s a moment the hospital community has been looking forward to for a long time.

“It’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver a world class hospital on a greenfield site, with contemporary models of care,”  Jennifer said.

“It’s our time to create something exceptional for Bankstown, and we’re thrilled to be on board.”

An experienced allied health senior manager who has lived and worked in western Sydney for more than 20 years, Jennifer said she’s proud to be part of the team delivering the hospital for the community.

“Bankstown has a great sense of community. It’s colourful and diverse, and we’re hoping to showcase that unique personality in the design of the new facilities,” she said.

The redevelopment team includes SWSLHD, Health Infrastructure, and project managers Capital Insight, working with architects Architectus.

Sally Rouland, formerly deputy physiotherapy manager at Bankstown and team lead for the recent Emergency Department redevelopment, will be heading up the change management, while Eric Tieu, a finance specialist, is taking on a new challenge as a redevelopment administrator.  

Health Infrastructure Senior Project Director Andrew Paris said the site selection is progressing well, with a major stakeholder workshop completed in December 2021.

“Most of 2022 will be devoted to master planning the site, and there will be ample opportunities for staff to get involved through project user groups and other activities,” Andrew said.

Extensive community consultation will ensure the redevelopment meets our healthcare needs well into the future.
The project team will be based in the cottage at the corner of Artegall Street.
